This booklet has been prepared to help familiarize newcomers to Canada with some of the cultural and legal aspects of family life in Canada. It is not meant to say that the way Canadians view family is the correct way or the best way, but it is the way Canadian society and its laws have developed and it’s important for newcomers to Canada to understand.
