Safe Sleep for Your Baby – July 2026

June 29, 2026

Sleep for babies is both healthy and essential for proper growth and development (Government of Canada, n.d.). The younger the child, the higher their sleep requirements are (Government of Canada, n.d.). However, sleep also involves vulnerabilities for babies, including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is an unexplained and terrifying possibility for parents and caregivers who do their absolute best to ensure the safety of their babies. Although professionals do not know exactly how SIDS occurs, there are steps parents can take to reduce risks that can contribute to SIDS (Government of Canada, n.d.).

The Government of Canada has created a digital pamphlet outlining specific steps parents and caregivers can take to reduce risks associated with SIDS. If you are interested in learning more about how to reduce risks associated with SIDS, check out the link below.
