Navigating Suicide Loss Toolkit – October 2026
October 2, 2026
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month was in September. Many people are affected by suicide; often caregivers are in the role of supporting children through suicide loss or have lost someone themselves. Counselling Connect Sask has an online tool kit which was a project by Family Service Saskatchewan for families and loved ones navigating a suicide loss. The tool kit is specifically created for families, partners and close friends in Saskatchewan who have experienced a suicide loss (Counselling Connect Sask, n.d.). This resource is unique because it is Saskatchewan specific, offers practical information, guidance that supports navigating immediate aftermath and the ongoing grief journey following a suicide loss (Counselling Connect Sask, n.d.). The tool kit is self guided and includes information about understanding grief, trauma and loss, supporting grieving children and youth, caregiver needs, practical guidance for addressing immediate needs such as funeral arrangements, self care suggestions and a list of local provincial resources that may be of interest (Counselling Connect Sask, n.d.).
