Family Day – February 2026

January 28, 2026

Daily life and commitments while raising a family can be hectic, making it challenging for families to spend quality time together. As such, Family Day originated in Alberta in 1990 as a day to focus on connection with loved ones and was adopted in Saskatchewan in 2007 (123 Dentist, n.d.). Having meaningful quality family time as a family does not require spending large amounts of money. Families can choose to spend Family Day at home and create treasured memories, such as creating a family story book, playing games, or cooking together. Alternatively, there are various community activities families can attend to celebrate Family Day.

The following is a list of fun and low-cost activities throughout Saskatoon that can help promote and deepen family connections:

YMCA is holding “Caribou Classic”, a free event with family swims, bouncy castles, and fitness activities to celebrate Family Day. For further information, go to https://ymcasaskatoon.org/event/caribou-classic-free-family-fun-day/.
