Clare’s Law – January 2026

January 13, 2026

Under the Interpersonal Violence Disclosure Protocol Act, police services can disclose certain risk-related information about a current or former intimate partner. Accessing this service can help individuals make informed decisions about their relationship and their safety (Saskatchewan, n.d). Under this act, there are two recognized reasons for disclosing information: “right to ask” and “right to know”. Applications can be made by a person who believes they may be at risk of harm by a current or former intimate partner, or by a third party who has a close relationship with someone who they are concerned may be at risk (Saskatchewan, n.d).
